Well guess what, the weekend of Janmashtami is here bringing in lots of love, excitement along with fun and festivals to celebrate. Janmashtami also known as Gokulashtami is celebrated to commemorate the birth of Lord Krishna. The festival of Janmashtami is celebrated all over India with utmost zeal and in many different ways.
Hindus celebrate Janmashtami by fasting, singing, praying together, preparing and sharing special food, night vigils, and visiting Krishna or Vishnu temples. Major Krishna temples organize recitation of ‘’Bhagavata Purana and Bhagavad Gita. People in Gujarat, specifically Dwarka celebrate Janmashtami with DahiHandi along with folk Bhajans, Dance, decorations, etc. People of Junagadh also celebrate this festival with a lot of enthusiasm. We see small and large DahiHandi functions in societies, GopalDarshan at home, Jaagrans with families and lots of lights and colours across the city.
In Short the festival of Janmashtami brings in lots of love and laughter in our busy days. For some people it is full of religion and culture, while for some it is a long weekend to enjoy and relax with family and close ones.
